Alien Trilogy (Sega Saturn)
3 Alien movies wrapped up in one awesome game
It’s an ambitious thought… Themes from the first 3 Alien movies wrapped up in one game (as well as being one of the only games you actually play as Ripley).
Alien Trilogy is a game released in 1996. Two years after Alien vs Predator on the Atari Jaguar (the first time we got to see an Alien in a first-person shooter) and I feel in a lot of ways, Trilogy carries the crown well. Dark and desolate with plenty of ambient sound effects used throughout to create this atmosphere of dread.
As a game available on both the Sega Saturn and the Sony Playstation, it’s clear the Saturn really started to suffer a bit when it came to the explosions and the transparencies (or the developers, Probe, couldn’t invest the time to learn and incorporate them better in this port). With games like Doom being nigh unplayable on the Sega Saturn, I was relieved Alien Trilogy played well and kept a solid pace though if you have the choice, the Playstation version certainly trumps.
