Stephen King’s F13
The Worst Computer Game Reviewed?
Stephen King had a busy 1999. Between the accident that nearly took his life, releasing 6 books and having his very own video game, F13 released, he ummm, probably didn’t need to bother with the game. Stephen King’s F13 is based off an incredibly flimsy premise.
“At the very top of your seemingly benign keyboard is a row of function keys. On a standard PC, they number F1 to F12. Key F13 doesn’t exist . Even on a Mac, the F13 is an unassuming little key that simply captures a displayed screen. What if an F13 with some real potency appeared? Something menacing, a merger of technology and terror brought straight to your desktop. Would you dare strike such a key? A provocative yet unanswered question for horror fans and computer users. Unanswered until now… “
I think it’s safe to say Stephen King didn’t write the blurb.
What’s the deal here?
The game is a collection of content. Broken down into 5 different sections we have the desktop backgrounds, screensavers, system sound files, mini-games and the short story, everything’s eventual.
The disc basically acts as a way to preview the media content (you need to install it directly from your OS, not the disc), read the story in an early e-book format and quickly try out the included mini-games.
As for the included games? We have Feed the Fish, Bug Splat and Whack-a-Zombie. They’re bare bones, incredibly simple and hardly count as games.
